DIY HEALTH PROTOCOL

Step 1: Foundation Month

Build the foundation most people skip.

The Julie E DIY Health Protocol is a seven-step roadmap created from the same foundational principles Julie has used with clients for over 25 years, giving you the tools, education, and guidance to begin your health journey from home. While the complete journey may take six to twelve months depending on your individual needs, the most important place to begin is Step 1: Foundation Month.

Over the next 30 days, you will focus on the simple daily practices that help create a stronger foundation for your health. From there, you may continue through the next steps or maintain these foundational habits as part of your long-term wellness routine.

Explore the Foundation Pillars

Explore each pillar to understand why these practices matter, how to implement them at home, and the tools Julie recommends to support your journey.

Understanding Your BioField

Most people think of health in terms of organs, muscles, bones, or blood tests. But long before symptoms appear physically, your body is constantly communicating through a complex network of electrical and energetic signals. This is often referred to as your BioField.

Your BioField isn’t something separate from your body. It’s the invisible electrical and energetic environment that helps your cells communicate, coordinate, and respond to the world around you. Every heartbeat, every nerve impulse, and every cell relies on these electrical signals to function properly. Just as your phone depends on a stable signal to communicate, your body also depends on clear communication between its systems. When that communication is disrupted, your body may have a harder time adapting, repairing, and maintaining balance.

Supporting the BioField isn’t about chasing symptoms. It’s about creating an environment where your body can communicate, adapt, and function the way it was designed to.

Why This Matters

Modern life places your body under constant stress. From electronic devices and artificial lighting to wireless technology and environmental exposures, many of the things we interact with every day can influence how well our bodies function. While you can’t eliminate every source of stress, becoming more aware of your environment is one of the simplest and most powerful places to begin. Foundation Month isn’t about fear or perfection. It’s about understanding the factors that may be affecting your health and making practical, sustainable changes over time.

What You Can Do At Home (Many Steps Are Free)

Start by becoming aware of the devices and environmental factors you interact with every day. Simple practices include:

1. Avoid keeping your phone directly against your body whenever possible.
2. Create healthier habits around your technology use.
3. Spend time in nature and reconnect with the Earth’s natural environment.
4. If you live near the ocean, soak your hands and feet in seawater as a simple way to reconnect with nature.

You don’t need expensive equipment to begin. Consistent awareness and small daily habits are often the first steps toward lasting change.

Additional Support Tools

For those who want additional support or do not have access to natural resources, Julie has curated tools that she personally uses in her practice and daily life.

Personal Device Support

  • Q Disc for phones, tablets, computers, and wearable devices

Home & Environmental Support
  • QiFi for home environments
  • Wearable support options

Mineral & Ocean Support
  • Ocean and Medi Soak for convenient mineral soaks at home

Reflection

Remember, the goal of Foundation Month isn’t to do everything perfectly overnight. It’s about becoming more aware of the everyday factors that influence your health and taking small, consistent steps to better support your body. Lasting health is built one habit at a time.

Now that you’ve begun building awareness of your environment, the next step is understanding what may be placing additional stress on your body from the inside and outside. In Week 2, we’ll explore hidden toxins, everyday exposures, and practical ways to reduce your body’s overall burden so it can function more efficiently.

Understanding Minerals

Minerals are involved in nearly every process in the body. They help support energy production, hydration, nerve communication, muscle function, digestion, hormone balance, and your body’s ability to respond to physical and emotional stress. Yet modern life can make it surprisingly difficult to maintain healthy mineral levels. Chronic stress, processed foods, depleted soils, intense exercise, excessive sweating, and even sauna use can all increase your body’s demand for these essential nutrients. Think of minerals as some of the body’s basic building blocks. Before your body can function at its best, it first needs the materials to do the work.

Why This Matters

Many people focus only on removing what is harmful from their environment, but healing also requires replenishing what the body needs. That is why Foundation Month focuses on both:

  • Reducing common stressors that may affect the body
  • Rebuilding the body’s foundation with essential nutrients and supportive daily practices

Supporting your mineral balance can be one of the simplest and most affordable steps you can take to begin improving your health.

What You Can Do At Home (Many Steps Are Free or Low-Cost)

Start with simple daily habits:

  • Add a high-quality mineral-rich salt to your routine. Julie often recommends approximately one teaspoon per day, especially for those who sweat regularly or use a sauna. You can use a quality sea salt or pink salt available to you (or our Pink Salt).
  • Eat a diet rich in whole foods, vegetables, fruits, and mineral-rich foods.
  • Stay properly hydrated and listen to your body’s needs.
  • Check your pH using pH test strips to observe your progress and learn how your body responds to your daily habits.

Remember: the goal is not perfection. Small, consistent habits done every day can create significant changes over time.

Additional Support Tools

For those looking for additional support or convenience, Julie offers several products she personally uses and recommends.

Mineral Support

  • Cal/Mag supplements
  • BEAM liquid minerals
  • PRL Pink Salt

Mineral Soaking & Absorption
  • Medi Soak for mineral-rich soaks at home
  • Ocean, a concentrated ocean mineral blend for those who do not have access to natural seawater

Reflection

Reducing stress on the body is only one part of the equation. Replenishing what your body needs is just as important. By making minerals and hydration part of your daily routine, you’re continuing to strengthen the foundation your body relies on every day. In Week 3, we’ll build on this foundation by exploring one of the body’s most important jobs: supporting its natural detoxification pathways and understanding how your body’s “assembly line” works together to maintain health.

Understanding Your Body’s Detox Pathways

When most people think about detoxification, they immediately think about the liver. While the liver plays an incredibly important role, it is only one part of a much larger system. Your body was designed with multiple detoxification pathways that work together every day to process and eliminate waste. These include the liver, kidneys, digestive system, lymphatic system, skin, lungs, and other supporting organs and tissues, which I call the "Assembly Line". Each one relies on the others to do its job efficiently.

Imagine an assembly line in a factory. If one station slows down or stops working, the stations before it begin to back up, and the stations after it cannot function as intended. Eventually, the entire system becomes less efficient. Your body’s detoxification pathways work much the same way. For example, even if your liver is functioning well, your body may still struggle to eliminate waste if your digestive system is sluggish, your lymphatic system isn’t moving effectively, or your kidneys aren’t receiving the support they need.

This is why focusing on just one organ rarely produces lasting results. Supporting the entire detoxification system helps your body work the way it was designed to, with each pathway contributing to the overall process.

Why This Is Part of Foundation Month

Many detox programs focus on a single organ or a quick cleanse, but lasting health is rarely built through isolated solutions. A stronger approach is to support the body’s natural detoxification processes as a whole. By helping each pathway function more efficiently, you create a stronger foundation for your body to eliminate waste, adapt to stress, and maintain balance over time.

What You Can Do At Home (Many Steps Are Free)

Simple practices you can begin today include:
Tapping & Swiping
Tapping and Swiping technique is designed to help stimulate areas associated with lymphatic flow and support the body’s natural detox processes.

Castor Oil Packs
Apply Castor Oil to areas such as the abdomen and lower back before a bath or soak. Many people incorporate this practice as a relaxing self-care ritual to support their wellness routine.

Deep Breathing & Movement
Gentle movement, stretching, and intentional breathing can support relaxation and help you maintain healthy daily habits.

Reflection & Preparing for Week 4

Detoxification is not something you do for a few days and then forget. It is a daily conversation between your body, your environment, and your habits. During Foundation Month, focus on creating simple, sustainable rituals that allow your body to function at its best.

Bringing It All Together

Over the past three weeks, you’ve begun building a stronger foundation for your health.

You’ve learned how your environment can influence your body’s natural communication systems, why minerals are essential for everyday function, and how your body’s detox pathways work together as one interconnected system.

Now comes the most important part: consistency.

Your body wasn’t built to be “fixed” in a few days. It’s constantly adapting to the choices you make every day. Small, repeated habits often have a far greater impact than occasional extreme efforts.

Foundation Month isn’t meant to be a 30-day challenge you complete and forget. It’s designed to help you build simple, sustainable practices that continue supporting your health long after these four weeks are over.

Why This Matters

Many people spend years searching for the perfect supplement, therapy, or biohack while overlooking the importance of their daily habits.

Advanced technologies and targeted products can be valuable tools, but they work best when they’re built on a strong foundation.

When you consistently support your environment, nourish your body, and strengthen your natural detoxification systems, you create conditions where your body is better able to adapt, repair, and thrive. Long-term health isn’t created through perfection. It’s created through consistency.

What You Can Do At Home (Completely Free)

As you complete Foundation Month, continue building on the habits you’ve started.

  • Stay mindful of your daily environment and technology use.
  • Continue replenishing your minerals and supporting proper hydration.
  • Support your body’s natural detoxification pathways through healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Spend time outdoors and reconnect with nature whenever possible.
  • Focus on progress rather than perfection, making small improvements you can maintain over time.

Remember, every positive choice you make is another investment in your long-term health.

What Is Inflammaging?

As you’ve learned throughout Foundation Month, health isn’t built by focusing on just one symptom, one organ, or one supplement. It’s the result of many systems working together over time.

One concept that has gained increasing attention in health and longevity research is Inflammaging.

Inflammaging is a combination of the words inflammation and aging. It refers to the low-grade, chronic inflammation that can gradually build up in the body over time. Unlike the short-term inflammation that helps your body heal after an injury or fight an infection, inflammaging is often subtle and may go unnoticed for years.

When the body experiences ongoing stress from poor nutrition, environmental toxins, lack of sleep, chronic stress, inactivity, or other lifestyle factors, it can remain in a prolonged state of low-level inflammation. Over time, this may affect how your body repairs itself, responds to stress, and supports healthy aging.

The good news is that many of the foundational habits you’ve already begun building, such as reducing unnecessary stressors, supporting your body’s natural detoxification systems, replenishing essential nutrients, and creating healthy daily rituals, also help create an internal environment that supports balance.

Rather than trying to eliminate inflammation entirely, the goal is to help your body regulate it appropriately and maintain the balance it was designed to have.

Understanding Omega Balance

One important factor that can influence inflammation is the balance between omega-3 and omega-6 fats in your diet.

Both are essential fatty acids, meaning your body needs them to function. The challenge isn’t that omega-6 fats are “bad.” It’s that modern diets often contain far more omega-6 than omega-3, creating an imbalance that may contribute to chronic inflammation over time.

The goal isn’t to eliminate one or the other. Instead, it’s to restore a healthier balance by emphasizing whole foods and increasing sources of quality omega-3s.

What You Can Do At Home

Focus on an Anti-Inflammatory Lifestyle
Simple habits that support a healthy inflammatory balance include:

  • Eating more whole, nutrient-dense foods
  • Increasing sources of healthy Omega-3 fats
  • Reducing highly processed foods and excess refined oils
  • Supporting your body through consistent Foundation Month practices, including mineral support, detoxification, stress management, and restorative routines
Remember, small changes maintained over time can have a significant impact on your overall health.

Additional Support Tools

For those who want to better understand and optimize their Omega balance, Julie recommends:

Balance Test
A simple at-home finger-prick test that measures your Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio and provides a personalized look at your current balance.

Balance Oil
A carefully formulated blend of fish oil, olive oil, and polyphenols designed to help support a healthier Omega balance as part of a balanced lifestyle.
Julie typically recommends retesting every four months to monitor progress and see how your body responds over time.
